Left Behind

This sign is taped to a tree up the street from our apartment. It says, “Let no child remain uncircumcised,” or literally, “Let no uncircumcised child remain.” The number is a mobile phone number.Leaving aside that the sign doesn’t specify male children, it also doesn’t say that circumcision services are actually being offered. Could this be announcing some kind of neighborhood watch program? A tipline perhaps? (”Hey, you know that kid Ahmet? Well…”)

But let’s assume it’s an ad. In that case I don’t know how the advertiser is hoping to compete with the huge campaigns all over town, especially the ones where the organizers provide free pasha costumes. Maybe there’s still a niche for low-volume, old school circumcisers…
