All is well here in Istanbul, I just haven’t had much time or energy to focus on blogging. It’s not that I haven’t been motivated to write or that I have the blogging blues, I’ve just been preoccupied with other things, like research and family. It’s hard to believe more than a month has passed since I posted.
Speaking of time moving quickly, at least three anniversaries passed unremarked while I was away from the site. First, my 5th wedding anniversary was on May 24. (I already share the same birthday as Anomie, and this post makes me wonder if we also share the same wedding day — if not, it’s close. What’s going on, Anomie?!)
Secondly, my blog’s second anniversary was the day after that. Thanks to all of you who read along vis RSS or visit regularly! I’ve really had a lot of fun with this.
Third, May marked 10 years since my band recorded its album at a studio in Chicago. I can pinpoint one of the days we were in the studio - May 14 - because I remember we watched the last episode of Seinfeld while taking a break. The whole experience was a blast.
Come to think of it, it will also be 10 years, later this month, since an even more significant event — my first trip overseas for a 6-month internship in Jordan. That experience started me down the path toward Turkey, which indirectly explains anniversary #1 (above) as well as my dissertation topic.
Okay, that’s enough nostalgia. Back to regularly scheduled programming.

That is too weird. My 5th anniversary was on June 6th, but that is pretty darn close. It also looks as though we are both redheads with glasses…
Happy belated anniversaries!
Thanks!
Yep, redhead with glasses.
Hey Jim,
Jeremy Sanderson here - stumbled on your blog and was amazed to realize its now ten years since the debut album of runforyerlife! That recording still sounds fresh and brings back the best of college memories… what’s kind of mind boggling is, now my kids love it!
glad to hear all is well
Hey Jeremy, great to hear from you. That’s funny that your kids like it, but good to know we might be able to book some kids birthday parties if we every get the band back together.
Good to read your blog again. Regarding the anniversaries, time goes by quickly, doesn’t it? It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since Runforyerlife recorded the album. I have great memories of all the Runforyerlife perfomances I attended, and I still play the album now and then when I’m driving.
Thanks for the comment, Dad - you bet, time sure flies!
I was glad you and Mom were able to see those shows - they were certainly a blast for me!
did you ever have a girl named jess keene in your band??
